CommuteGlance ("the App") is operated by CommuteGlance ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.
CommuteGlance is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the absolute minimum data necessary to deliver transit information to you.
Location access is optional and requires your explicit permission. When granted, your location is used entirely on-device to find nearby transit stations. Your location is never transmitted to our servers or any third party and is not stored or logged.
If you opt in, CommuteGlance uses Sentry for crash reporting. Crash reports contain only technical diagnostic data (device model, OS version, app version, and stack traces). Crash reports never include personal information, location data, or route preferences. You can disable crash reporting at any time in the App's Settings.
Transit schedules (GTFS data) are downloaded from public transit agency feeds and cached locally on your device to enable offline access. Your saved routes, preferences, and dashboard configuration are stored only on your device using local storage.
The App makes network requests to:
api.commuteglance.com) to fetch real-time transit departure data from public transit agencies (WMATA, VRE, MARC, etc.)These requests do not include personal identifiers, location data, or tracking information.
All user preferences, saved routes, and cached schedule data are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain any server-side database of user data. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is removed.
The App integrates with the following third-party services:
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, it is safe for use by all ages.
All network communication between the App and our server uses HTTPS encryption. Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no user data at risk of breach.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can clear cached data in the App's Settings, revoke location permissions in your device's Settings, or delete the App entirely to remove all associated data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
